The #1 thing to realize about this is that in this case, 8″ really means 12″. So, if you pulled your stem out and you measured it and it measures about 12″, you want the 8″ replacement. Thank you to others on Amazon who noted this so that I was able to purchase the right thing the first time.This was a job for the hive brain of Amazon. I took my old stem to the friendly hardware store where they told me I needed to replace the entire faucet (which would have involved holes in walls and welding as I do not seem to have the easy set up described in some online tutorials). So, I turned to the combo of search engine and amazon to find the faucet stem and found this. Not quite an exact replacement for the old one with the ceramic cartridge (of note–you don’t really want the ceramic one), but it works, it fits–didn’t even need to retrofit the new cartridge onto the old stem as some people have mentioned. Thank you all for the significant time and money saved by not having to tear apart my house.
